Directgov wins world summit award

Directgov, the flagship UK government website is the only national e-government project to get a prestigious world Summit award this year in Tunis.

Directgov was conceived by the founding gov3 members of the team while worked for the UK government. Bill Edwards, Managing Partner of gov3 and the first Managing director of Directgov said:

"It was a bold concept that was tough to sell in to some people and even tougher to deliver. But the the idea of building a team with news skill as well as old skills, and taking a wholly citizen-centric approach to service delivery has paid off - Directgov has broken through the problem of service take-up. There are lessons here that can be applied to online and offline service delivery anywhere in the world."

Directgov brings together services and content from around 30 UK government departments and agencies. The Directgov business model uses an innovative delivery model based on internal franchising inside government, to deliver a cohesive and effective service delivery experience to customers. What sets Directgov apart from other approaches is this business model and why marketing techniques are used to enable customer requirements to shape the service.
