MoH to launch portal

Registering health cards, medical professional's licenses, birth and death certificates and availing blood bank services will soon be a click away, thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Health (MoH), which is all set to launch a new web portal in the New Year. The new portal will offer 80 health services online along with regularly updated information about the ministry, its policies and services, according to Director of the Quality and Development Department at MoH Dr Saeed Abdullah Bin Ishaq, according to The Gulf Today.

Co-ordinator of the e-Government project of the MoH, Ishaq said that the final draft of the portal's structure was approved by a technical team from the e-company of Etisalat, Ministry of Finance and the Quality and Development Department at a meeting held in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. He said that the Central Committee for Quality and e-Governance at the ministry, headed by the Undersecretary Hassan Ahmed Al Alkim, is likely to launch the portal by January end.

The ministry's portal will be in line with the federal government's moves to offer e-services at all levels of governance. The new portal will be linked to uae.gov.ae, the official gateway to all UAE federal government ministries and entities. The government portals are aimed at overcoming geographical disadvantages, reducing time consumption and offering transparency at all levels of governance.

They are also aimed to be user friendly interfaces for the public to have better interaction with the government officials. "Our portal will have six major tracks for medical certificates and health cards, licensing of health professionals, pharmacological products, birth and death certificates and blood bank services," Ishaq said.
